LED recessed wall luminaires in external wall insulation systems (EWIS)

For the installation of LED recessed wall luminaires in external wall insulation systems (EWIS), we can provide a system solution that offers top quality and easy handling. The luminaires, installation housings and the insulation components included are perfectly matched to each other and have been certified by the independent German Passive House Institute (PHI).

The slim yet screwless luminaire frames of this new series are design-defining for the new LED recessed wall luminaires. The extremely low maintenance requirements of our LED technology enable a new product concept with far easier and quicker installation. The electrical connection is now established comfortably before installation in the structure. Only then is the installed luminaire secured in the structure using the BEGA mounting system.

A wide selection of LED recessed wall luminaires is available for the most diverse lighting scenarios, with different shapes, dimensions and light distribution options.

For installation in external wall insulation systems (EWIS), BEGA supplies special installation housings. The modular design and combination of the individual insulation elements in 20 mm increments allow for flexible adaptation to insulation depths of 120 to 200 mm. A separate plaster frame is required for installation.

During installation, the installation housing is filled up with installation elements from the scope of delivery, depending on the insulation depth, and secured on the facade with screws. The plaster frame can then be inserted into the installation housing and aligned with the plaster thickness. Once the plastering work is finished, the plaster frame remains as a closing edge in the wall.

According to the findings of the German Passive House Institute (PHI), established and run by the physicist and construction physicist Dr. Wolfgang Feist, the installation of BEGA recessed wall luminaires in external wall insulation systems (EWIS), as described above, creates no thermal bridges or any other issues.

“The formation of condensation or mildew on the surface facing the room can be ruled out, provided the luminaire is installed in compliance with manufacturer instructions”, concludes the investigative report on BEGA recessed wall luminaires in external wall insulation systems. “Cold air downdrafts due to low surface temperatures” are similarly eliminated in accordance with the tested configuration.
